MEETING PEOPLE IN PERSON · AGES 35+

How to meet singles without dating apps.

A first conversation can tell you things a profile cannot. If you would like to meet someone in person, start with a setting where you feel comfortable and have time to talk.

Choose a setting that suits you.

A hosted singles social gives you a chance to meet people who have come along with the same intention: getting to know other single people. Shared-interest activities and local meetups can also create opportunities for conversation, although everyone attending those may not be single.

Think about the kind of evening you would enjoy even before meeting anyone. A relaxed pub or bar social might suit you if you want to mingle and chat. If you prefer a shared activity, look for a group built around something you already enjoy. Check the age guidance, location, format and journey home before booking.

Coming alone is welcome.

You do not need to bring a friend to a Made2Meet event. A friendly host welcomes guests, helps with introductions and can offer light conversation starters. If it is your first time, let the host know when you arrive.

Give yourself a small, manageable aim: say hello to a few people and enjoy a conversation. You do not need to impress everyone or leave with a date arranged. Asking what brought someone along, what they enjoy doing locally or how their week has been can be an easy place to start.

What happens at a Made2Meet singles social?

Our current evenings are for singles aged 35 and over, with no upper age cap. After a welcome, there is time to mingle and talk at your own pace. There are no timed rotations or formal speed dating. You can come alone or with a single friend.

Book in advance through the event’s ticket link. Your ticket gives you entry to the hosted social; drinks and any food are bought separately at the venue. The booking provider shows current availability and final checkout prices. A place at the evening is an opportunity to meet people, with no guarantee of a romantic match.

Find an evening near you.

Explore our London singles events for ages 35+ at The New Moon and The Moniker in the City of London, or our Oxfordshire singles events near Didcot at The Crown Inn in South Moreton. Each event page has the exact address, date, time and booking route.

Made2Meet is also planning walks and coffee catch-ups. Those formats do not yet have announced dates; the website will show them when they are ready to book.

A connection starts with a conversation.

Take time to listen, share a little about yourself and see how the conversation feels. Exchange contact details only if you both want to, and respect someone’s choice if they would rather leave it there. Enjoying the evening and meeting someone new can be a good first step.
